Meet the Author Farrah Lee

  1. Farrah, how long have you been writing?

My first book was published in Dec 2019 but as a kid, I wrote lots of stories. My mother has all of the notebooks full of them.

2. You are an extremely prolific writer with a number of titles to your credit both fiction and nonfiction, but what can you tell us about your latest novel Mail Order Christmas?
Mail Order Christmas was a lot of fun to write. My favorite part is the cellphone banter.

3. In this novel what was your favorite character to write and why?
My favorite character was the leading lady…the elf. She just has a lot of spunk and humor.

4. What do you consider your most difficult scene to write?
Most difficult scene..hmm. Honestly, with this book, there wasn’t a difficult scene. but if I had to pick something it would be her living in her car and no family.

5. How do you handle writer’s block?
writer’s block…that is a big one. I’ll go for a walk, do some chores, gardening and if that doesn’t work I watch a movie opposite of what I’m writing.

6. What is your strangest writing quirk?
I have to have the tv on. If I play music I get distracted if it’s quiet my mind races, but if the tv is on I can write. I tend to put on one of a few movies that I’ve seen a million times so I don’t need to lookup.

7. How long does it take you to write your first draft?

I’m not much of a “first draft” writer. I tend to edit as I go. Mostly because my other job keeps me pulled away then I have to read what I wrote to get my head back in the story….as that happens I edit.

8. Are you a Plotter or a Pantser? Have you ever tried to write using the other method? How did it work for you?
I think I am somewhere in between. I get a general idea, make some notes then start writing.  As far as trying the opposite method, I don’t think I could be a full plotter hence being in between.

9. Do you think aliens exist?
ALiens you say…sure why not. Who are we to think we’re the only ones out there. For all, we know we could be the last ones to come. Do I chase aliens or obsess on them…No but they probably are out there.

10. Where do you get your news?

my news…Not much of a news person. If it’s really important my husband tells me about it. Otherwise, I feel most information put out whether it’s on tv, google or Facebook is someone telling their point of view and in life, there are always more ways than one to see a situation.

11. What movie can you watch over and over without getting tired of?
Movies…Not sure on this one. Maybe pretty woman, Sabrina, grease lol something light-hearted. I do like serious but the watch over and over it would have to be happy.

12. Who do you go out of your way to be kind to?
Kindness….seniors deserve our kindness, we as a whole do not take care of our seniors enough. Same for veterans. I tend to be kind to most people because you never know what someone is going through so I try to give them a break.

13. What’s the best practical joke you’ve ever played?
 I don’t do practical jokes.

14. When was the last time you got to say I told you so?

I told you so…I say it weekly in my head ha ha. My oldest son deserves to hear it from me weekly. He is rather stubborn but smart enough to know when I’m right so I don’t have to say it. Of course, there is always the hubby lol

15. If someone narrated your life who would you want to be your narrator?

 Narrated….honestly no idea.

December Christmas Bonus Question

What treat do you put out for Santa?

Treat for Santa is traditional cookies and milk and carrots for reindeer.  I’m old school.
